The "Cross Over" is an advanced soccer skill, and is used to quickly mis-direct the ball to the defender.
The first foot is placed on top of the ball while in stride and drags the ball in front of the attacker. The second foot steps over the ball (which goes between the attackers legs). This causes the defender to lose the ball, and change direction incorrectly. Attacker should then speed past the defender.
Benefits of the Cross Over: Attacker moves to the other side of the defender, moving the ball away from the defender, while freezing him.
Cross Over Notes: Don’t lean back, stand too upright or perform the Cross Over while moving too slowly. Use the shoulders and hips to sell the defender. Don't lift cross over leg too high.
