The Lunge or "Outside Cut" is a basic soccer skill, used to quickly move the ball away, and past the defender.
As the ball is moving forward, place the plant foot near the ball. Then move the second foot toward the space between the plant foot and the ball, and quickly kick the ball using the outside part of the second foot – powering past the defender with a sudden burst of speed.. Turn the shoulders and lean the body toward the ball, as the foot kicks the soccer ball past the defender.
Benefits of the Lunge: Attacker rapidly moves to either side of the defender, moving the ball away from the defender as he powers past him.
Lunge Notes: Don’t lean back or stand too upright when performing the Lunge soccer skill. It must be performed quickly and with a sudden burst of speed to go past the defender.
