The "Stop & Turn" is a basic soccer skill, used to quickly change direction.
As the ball is moving forward, the attacker's first foot is placed on the top of the soccer ball, stopping it. While jumping and rotating toward the second foot, the attacker then uses the first foot to drag the soccer ball in a new direction.
Benefits of the Stop & Turn: The Stop & Turn uses the body to shield the ball from the defender, while quickly changing direction.
Stop & Turn Notes: Don’t lean back, move too slowly, or stand too upright when performing the Stop & Turn soccer skill. It must be performed quickly, seamlessly, and in mid-stride, without slowing down. This soccer skill should not be done too close to the defender, as the common mistake is missing the turn and drag of the ball with the foot.
